PUNE: Bowlers Vilakshan Dadwal and Atharva Srivastava turned in remarkable performance for their respective teams as Barclays and FLAME University scored contrasting wins on Day 2 of the FLAME University Corporate Cricket T20 League 2019 at the FLAME University Campus in Lavale on Sunday.
In the first match of the day, Barclays opener Kanishk Singh set the pace with his strokeplay in company of Abhishek Srivastava as the two put up 38 runs for the first wicket in five overs after being put in to bat.
Kanishk continued in the same vein despite the fall of Srivastava and went on to post 96 runs off 63 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes as Barclays put up a challenging 159 for 5 in the allotted 20 overs.
League debutants ATOS, however, found the going tough as wickets fell in a heap as they were first reduced to 20 for 3 and 35 for 5. Ishaan Narang came up with a gutsy 30-ball 25 before Vilakshan Dadwal snapped up his six wickets to skittle out ATOS for 82 and set up 77-run win.
ATHARVA SPARKLES
Hosts FLAME University made their debut memorable thanks to Atharva Srivastava’s spell of 4 for 22 that saw IBM score 141 runs in their allotted 20 overs despite some good scoring by Guruprasad Kapalay (40) and Dharamveer Singh (42).
FLAME University planned their chase well as Sahyog Jain (43) and Vinayak Renuse (27) stayed stuck to the task to bring about 50-run second-wicket partnership in 39 balls.
FLAME crossed the 100-run mark in the 15th over before Ritwik Parupalli (12) and Suraj Dange (11) scored the winning runs.
