KOLKATA: Parents of a 32-year-old man cried foul play after the person, Raju Duari was found hanging from the ceiling fan of their rented house at Bagmari in Maniktala early on Monday.
Police said, Duari, who works as a private driver, had returned home on Sunday night and had a heated altercation with his wife till late into the night. In the morning, the wife allegedly called up her parents, who live in the same area and later informed the cops that Duari had committed suicide by hanging from a nylon rope noose around a ceiling fan.
Locals blamed Duari’s wife had an extramarital affair with someone and when Duari returned home on Sunday, he found the youth at his house and a trouble ensued between the husband and wife. “We have started a case of unnatural death and have sent the body for post mortem. We are probing into all the angles about how and when he died,” said an officer of Maniktala police station.
Earlier on Sunday, a 35-year-old homemaker complained that she was allegedly stabbed with a knife by her husband and in-laws on Saturday evening and based on her complaint officers of Amherst Street police station, arrested the husband, Raju Das and his parents and have booked them for attempt to murder. The woman suffered severe injuries on her head and neck and underwent treatment at Kolkata medical college and hospital.
