Honor 10 Lite is equipped with 6.21-inch Full View LCD display, dual rear camera setup, a 24MP selfie camera, an octa-core Kirin 710 processor with an impressive design. We have used Honor 10 Lite 6GB RAM variant for more than a week and here’s what we think about it.
Huawei's sub-brand Honor has been doing well in the Indian smartphone industry for quite some time now. To take the momentum forward, Honor launched their first phone of 2019- Honor 10 Lite in the budget segment. This segment of smartphone market isn’t easy to crack and the Chinese manufacturer has presented its product very strongly in the Indian market.
Honor 10 Lite Price
Rs 13,999 for 4GB RAM variant
Rs 17,999 for 6GB RAM variant
Design and Display
Honor 10 Lite’s body with glossy finish and gradient design embedded on it will make you forget about its plastic body. However the plastic body is prone to unwanted smudges, so a protective case is a must and Honor ships this handset with one.
On the top of smartphone, you can find hybrid SIM tray alongside a secondary microphone but it might be confusing with SIM ejector. The Power and volume buttons are situated at right while left side of the phone is bare. You can find 3.5 mm jack, Micro-USB and Speakers at the bottom. Honor 10 Lite sports a dual camera setup at the rear along with LED flash. The Fingerprint sensor is located at the center and is easy to reach. It also supports face unlock which work effortlessly. The smartphone is very sleek and light to hold.
Honor has introduced small dewdrop style notch in this smartphone which houses the front camera. If you don’t like the notch, you can turn it off by going to settings. The notification LED has been taken down to Bezel and you will notice it only when it glows.
Honor 10 Lite is powered by 6.21-inch Full HD+ (2340 x 1080) Dewdrop display that provides over 90 per cent screen to body ratio and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The LCD panel of smartphone is very impressive and vibrant. The screen has an eye care mode which is certified by TUV Rheinland, it can be very helpful to protect eyes from strain. We feel that brightness level of smartphone under direct sunlight is not up to the mark. We found that graphics and video playbacks are very smooth and crisp while using it.
Camera
Honor is equipped with a dual-camera setup at the back. Primary lens is powered by 13-megapixel with f/1.8 aperture with 2-megapixel depth sensor. At front, you are getting a 24-megapixel lens that is situated on the tiny notch. We feel that sometimes camera fails to detect outlines in portrait mode. Front camera gives details and crisp images in daylight but below average performance in low light areas.
AI mode can identify 20 different scenes but it tries to give you more colors than required. Sometimes it looks great but sometimes it fails to impress. The Honor 10 Lite camera doesn’t support 4K video recording. The standard available format is [email protected] with a higher frame rate of [email protected] We observe that, there is a lack of stabilization in the video camera.
Performance
Honor 10 Lite runs on Kirin 710 chipset which is powered by an octa-core processor based on a 12nm process that clocks at up to 2.2GHz. It comes with Android 9 Pie with Huawei's custom EMUI 9. The smartphone comes with 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM variant with 64 GB internal storage. We played PUBG Mobile on HD graphics with medium frame rate and it performed very well. Multitasking and shifting between the apps were effortlessly.
Honor 10 Lite is equipped with 3,400mAh battery which lasted a day on a full charge. Unluckily it doesn’t support speed charging so you can expect 2hrs for full charge. After playing 2hrs of games, 1hrs of watching videos and 35 minutes of calling, the battery remains at 26% till the end of the day. The smartphone comes with some preloaded apps like Honor Club, HI Care, Ride Mode Party Mode, and a Vigo Video, which you can uninstall these apps from your phone if you don’t need them. There are some useful apps too like FM Radio, Facebook (Old version so you have to update it), Netflix and Phone clone etc. Overall, Honor 10 lite is very fast and excellent in terms of performance.
Conclusion
We feel that it can be a choice for those who love playing games, video streaming and moderate users. We have tested apps and performance in 6GB RAM variant so we are not sure about 4 GB RAM performances. The camera didn’t impress us much and if you do not have much importance for photography, then this phone can prove to be a better choice in the below 18K segment.
