I'm A Celebrity's Angie Kent reveals she had bulimia and was almost hospitalised due to her 'obsession with getting skinny'

Her Gogglebox pal Yvie Jones broke down in tears on Sunday night as she revealed she had an eating disorder and refused to do the weigh-in.

And Angie Kent, 31, admitted to having her own issues with body image, revealing she had bulimia and was almost hospitalised due to her 'obsession with getting skinny'.

Speaking on I'm A Celebrity on Monday night, she says: 'I had a dreadful eating disorder. It lasted for ages. I only just started talking about it three years ago.'

'Were you bone-thin?' her campmate Richard Reid asked her.

'Enough that people were worried,' Angie replied. 'The doctors said if I didn’t start eating they would send me to hospital. I started because of my acne, and I would only eat salad.'

The blonde beauty added that she couldn't help herself, calling the disorder an 'addiction' similar to alcoholism or drug dependency.

'It's so sad because you do get judged for stuff like that. People think you're doing it for attention or, they think you can snap out of it. But it's like an addiction,' she said.

'It's like being an alcoholic or a drug addict, you're addicted to that part of your life because that's the only part of your life you can control.'

Angie went on: 'Most of it doesn't even come from wanting to be skinny. It can be like, you have really bad skin, or you become obsessed with something because it's going to be good for your body, and then you get so obsessed you don't eat anything else.

'And then you get obsessed with getting skinny from it, and then that's how it starts.'

Angie admitted that her parents had no idea about her disorder at the time and she has still never spoken about her body image issues with her father.

'It's awful. It never goes away. You still always have it a little bit. The thoughts. But I know how to control it now because I'm very much into my mindfulness meditation,' she said.

Angie's candid admission comes after Yvie, 48, broke down while talking about body image and how she 'wished we lived in a different world where what we looked like doesn't matter'.

During the weigh-in, Yvie revealed that she wouldn't be taking part, telling her camp mates: 'I've had an eating disorder most of my life.

'I was growing up in a house where I was told that one of the worst things to be was overweight. I can't actually tell you the last time I weighed myself.'

Breaking down in tears, she went on: 'I wish we lived in a different world where what we looked like doesn't matter.

'I know a lot of people think they understand but unless you've had an overweight problem you don't understand what it's like to go through life being solely judged on the weight you are and the clothes that don't fit you properly.

'We're going to celebrate losing weight but I don't think it's something to be proud of. I just hope that by saying this I hope one person can understand that your worth isn't based on your weight.'

She concluded: 'I don't want to know how much weight I've lost because I don't think it really matters. The biggest achievement for me is being away from loved ones.'
