Lucas Radebe criticises Kaizer Chiefs after Soweto Derby

2019-02-11 11:06

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs, Bafana Bafana and Leeds United legend Lucas Radebe has criticised the club's lack of attacking depth following the 1-1 draw with Orlando Pirates last Saturday.

In the clash against the Sea Robbers, Chiefs had keeper Bruce Bvuma, defenders Ramahlwe Mphalele and Siyabonga Ngezana, midfielders Siphelele Ntshangase, Willard Katsande and Philani Zulu and striker Gustavo Paez as substitutes.

Coach Ernst Middendorp brought off Happy Mashiane in the second half for Philani Zulu whereas veteran destroyer Willard Katsande replaced Leonardo Castro, shortly after Chiefs had taken the lead through Daniel Cardoso.

Mphahlele also came on as it appeared the German mentor wanted to protect the 1-0 advantage of the Glamour Boys.

However, it was not to be as Pirates equalised through Thembinkosi Lorch.

Radebe told reporters: "There were no game changers [on the bench]. Did they bring on Katsande because they did not have anybody else? There's a question mark on bringing Mphahlele in.

"I was expecting more from Ekstein. I know he is that kind of player that can take players on, be involved and give passes and create opportunities for the strikers. I was impressed with Hadebe and Khama Billiat."
