The Kerala State Commission for the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes has directed the government to take steps to prevent loss of seats reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) in medical postgraduate admission.
The commission said giving reservation on the basis of totals seats in each course was beneficial for SCs and STs. Reservation for them on seats remaining after allotments were made to the physically challenged and ex-servicemen went against their interests. Seat reservation in courses on rotation basis was unjust, it said.
This should be avoided, and the admission process started after making necessary changes in the prospectus, the commission said in a pressnote.
