Written and directed by Gowtham Tinnanuri, Jersey, which features Nani as an aspiring cricketer, was scheduled to hit the screens on April 19. But the film is likely to open in cinemas sooner than expected.
According to a source, the filmmakers will release it on April 5 to avoid a box office clash with superstar Mahesh Babu’s forthcoming film Maharshi, which is due in cinemas on April 25.
Meanwhile, Jersey actor Shraddha Srinath on Monday tweeted a new poster from the film. She also announced that a single from the movie will be released to mark Valentine’s Day on February 14. “Roses, fine wine and a brand new single from #Jersey. Your Valentine’s Day is going to be. Can’t wait. @anirudhofficial has created LOVE (sic),” she tweeted.
According to a source, the story of Jersey is set in the 80s and spans about 10 years in the life of the protagonist.
“The basic plot revolves around the concept of late bloomers. Some people pursue their dreams only after a certain age and they still achieve success. They are known as late bloomers. We have plenty of examples and success stories with regards to it in different fields. But, in the case of sports, the late bloomer concept is somewhat difficult to apply. Because the sports field demands physical fitness. After a certain age, competing in any sports becomes tough. Likewise, Jersey is the story of a man who is settled in life with his wife and kid but aspires to be an Indian cricketer. The story also includes the reasons behind his dream and what he has done to achieve it during the process,” the source added.
Jersey also stars Sathyaraj, Brahmaji and Ronit Kamra among others.
