CHENNAI: Permanent employees of the Chennai Metro Rail Limited have decided to withdraw the indefinite strike temporarily, which they have planned for this month-end, as the Labour Commissioner has initiated talks between both sides.

But union members said that they would once again decide to go on strike if officials did not conceded their demands. “We were informed by the Labour Commissioner that talks would be arranged between us and CMRL officials by this week. But we haven’t received any information from the officials directly,” said a union member.

“Officials have informed us that they would  be discussing our demands soon. We want the management to convert all outsourced employees into permanent ones by giving them required training,” said a union member.
