Ukrainian company to manufacture seaplanes in Kerala
tnn | Feb 11, 2019, 23:24 ISTKochi: An Ukrainian company is planning to set up a seaplane manufacturing facility at Kinfra’s Defence Park at Ottappalam. A Kannur-based startup has joined hands with the firm for the project.
“Tourism sector in Asia requires small planes that are capable of taking off and landing on water as well as land. Initially, the firm will bring all modules and assemble them here. Later on, they will manufacture them here,” said Kinfra managing director Wing Commander (retd) K A Santosh Kumar.
The company representatives had visited the Defence Park and are happy with the facilities. They are now working on the joint venture company with the local startup. “Once the company is formed, they will give us an official request. The startup has the backing of an investor,” Kumar said. For the past two years, the startup had been working in Ukraine with the foreign company studying this project, he added.
