NEW DELHI: There was ruckus at a five-star hotel in west Delhi's Janakpuri after a group of wedding guests clashed with the staff. The commotion happened after an alleged argument broke out over serving of stale food during the wedding function on Saturday. A mobile video shot during the incident showed the wedding guests smashing cutlery in the kitchen. When the hotel staff tried to stop them, they were beaten up.
Police said the incident was reported around 9pm on Saturday at Piccadily hotel near Janakpuri district centre. The hotel was booked for the wedding of a west Delhi-based businessman. The hotel is set up by Jessica Lall's killer Manu Sharma.
The hotel staff told police that a group of drunk guests barged into the kitchens and smashed the plates on the floor. On protesting, some of them were dragged out by their collars and beaten by the wedding guests. The video clip shows a crowd of guests vandalising the banquet hall and the kitchen during the rampage that went on for almost half-an-hour.
A police team reached the hotel and detained two of the guests and a hotel staffer under Section 107/151 of CrPC (disruption of peace).
DCP (west) Monika Bhardwaj said that the police had recieved a copy of the video from the social media but did not recieve a formal complaint till Monday evening. "We have registered a case of damage to property and assault. The video is being analysed to identify the culprits," she said.
