Just a day after inauguration, Chennai Metro Rail services were badly hit, leaving hundreds of passengers hugely disappointed, besides being stranded on the tracks.
Around 8:00 a.m., problems emerged in the overhead equipment (OHE) in one of the lines between Washermanpet and Chennai Airport and this led to initial disruption of services, sources said. Soon after that, services started but there have been delays across the 45-km of phase I project, sources added.
According to officials of Chennai Metro Rail Limited, they have been working to resolve this issue.
Hundreds of passengers, who were eager to use the system after the inauguration of the final service between AG-DMS and Washermanpet on Sunday, had to wait for long to take the train. Many of them who were heading to work or catch a flight were furious that they had to suffer as they took to Chennai Metro Rail.
