If your date is outdoors, Nicole suggests you keep your outfit 'cool, yet casual' - she recommends something like a slip dress or skirt or some jeans and a camisole top or T-shirt
Outdoor date
For Nicole, if your date is outdoors, you should keep it 'cool, yet casual'.
'I suggest opting for a simple slip dress or skirt, like the Dazie Feelin' Fine Silky Slip Skirt, and completing it with a pair of sandals or lifestyle sneakers like the Superga 2750 Cotu MultiColour details,' she told FEMAIL.
'To add more edge to your look, you can also work a T-shirt over or underneath the dress for an air of 90s It-girl cool.'
Depending on your itinerary, Nicole said a 'flirty printed wrap dress' like the Dazie East Coast Midi Dress will work, with a cross body bag and sneakers for a 'haven't tried too hard' vibe.
Alternatively, if your date is set to work up a sweat, you can go for an athleisure look that doubles as streetwear.
'The P.E Nation Spike Tank is a versatile choice that looks great with leggings,' she said.
Wear: Wrap dresses, silky skirts and dresses, tank tops and leggings if sports are required.
Avoid: High heels, heavy jewellery, anything you can't do things in.

On the other end of the spectrum, those of us who are being treated to a fancy dinner this Valentine's Day should absolutely and without fail wear heels

'When it comes to dresses, look for a statement number that reflects your style, yet will be comfortable enough to last the whole night in,' Nicole said

On the other end of the spectrum, those of us who are being treated to a fancy dinner this Valentine's Day should absolutely and without fail wear heels.
'While heels are a must, make sure you choose a heel you can comfortably walk in - style is important, but wearing shoes you can't walk in is never a good look,' Nicole said.

Animal prints are massive this season, or alternatively you could go for this sexy but comfy slip dress like the Reiss Positano Strappy Back Dress.
Complete this outfit with strappy heels, a statement handbag or bold accessories.
Wear: Silk dresses, heels, statement handbags and jewellery.
Avoid: Flat shoes, anything too dull.

If your Valentine's Day is more casual - say dinner and a movie - jeans, wide leg pants or floaty skirts are Nicole's go-to picks
Casual dinner and a movie
If your Valentine's Day is more casual - say dinner and a movie - jeans, wide leg pants or floaty skirts are Nicole's go-to picks.
She recommends Nobody Denim Belle Ankle jeans, paired with a denim or leather jacket like this one.
She also said you should 'steer clear of fabrics that crease easily like linen, since you will be sitting down for a few hours'.
Wear: Jeans, leather or denim jacket, floaty skirts and T-shirts.
Avoid: Any material that creases too easily like linen.

For a mystery date, Nicole said you should 'keep it safe with something smart, yet casual - something that is versatile enough for whatever your date has in store'

Jeans and a denim or leather jacket is a good option for a casual dinner and movie
Mystery date
Finally, the hardest of dates to dress for: the mystery date.
'My advice is to keep it safe with something smart, yet casual - something that is versatile enough for whatever your date has in store,' Nicole said.
'For a safe, not too conservative bet, opt for jeans and a cami top like these J Brand Maria High-Rise Skinny Jeans.
'A casual printed dress like the Whistles Edelweiss Print Dress, paired with flat sandals or sneakers is also a great option that will prepare you for a range of activities.'
Wear: Something smart yet casual, like jeans and a cami top or a casual printed dress and flat sandals.
Avoid: Too high heels you can't walk in, anything that restricts movement.
