The Delhi High Court on Monday issued a notice to meat exporter Moin Qureshi in CBI's application seeking enhancement of his additional security amount from Rs 2 crore to Rs 6 crore in response to his travel to Pakistan and UAE.
Earlier this month, a trial court had allowed Qureshi to travel to the two countries. He had sought permission to travel to the UAE for the Gulf Food Festival from February 15 to 23, and to Pakistan from March 16 to 20 to attend his niece's wedding, according to reports.
Qureshi was ordered by the court to furnish Rs 2 crore in the form of bank guarantee.
The meat exporter, who was arrested in August 2017 after a case was filed against him under the money laundering Act for illegal forex dealings and tax evasion, was granted bail by a Delhi court on December 12 last year.
Opposing Qureshi's plea in an earlier hearing, the ED contested that "questioning of his arrest was an abuse of the legal process" and told the court that there were serious charges of hawala transactions against him.
Qureshi is accused of conducting illegal transactions through Delhi-based hawala operators.
