Congress MP M Veerappa Moily took a dig at the central government over Rafale deal on Monday and said the central ministry does not have any reliance on the Constitution of the country, but only on ‘Reliance’. He said the BJP has scanty regard for the prime minister’s office and Parliament too.
“Rafale deal is becoming murkier with each passing day,” he said, adding that the Congress is not against the purchase of aircraft. “But we cannot deprive the public sector for that,” he said. He criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said if anyone is to blame for the alleged Rafale scam, “it is PM and PM alone”. He also said that PM would emerge as the number one accused if Lokpal Bill is implemented and that is why the government is paying any heed to Anna Hazare’s demand for it. He said most of the funds allocated towards development schemes like ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ have been diverted to advertisements of the BJP government, said Moily. Terming it a “PM Bachao” activity, Moily said, the central government is paying a selected number of media to paint a clean picture of itself.
Former Prime Minister and JDS leader HD Deve Gowda also lashed out at BJP over ‘Operation Kamala’ started for the first time in 2009 in Karnataka. I request this government that this type of operation should not happen. Such a situation should not arise.” Earlier in the day, Lok Sabha saw protests on issues of alleged horse trading in Karnataka and was adjourned for around 50 minutes only to be reconvened at 12. Rajya Sabha was also adjourned till 2pm
