HYDERABAD: A Modi supporter in the city has used the wedding invitation card of his son as a platform to campaign for prime minister Narendra Modi’s re-election in the Lok Sabha elections this year. Wanting the BJP back in power at the centre and Narendra Modi leading the country again, Subhash Rao Kishan Rao Yande, a 68-year-old, man has asked for votes for Modi instead of giving wedding gifts to the couple who will get married on February 21.
“Voting to get Modi to power itself is a gift for the couple,” Subhash Rao, a retired electrical contractor told TOI. He has invited several people for the wedding of his son Mukesh with Anusha. “My son too is a supporter of Modi and it was his interest too of printing the ‘Vote for Modi’ plea on the wedding card,” Subhash Rao said.
“Our gift is your Vote for Modi in the 2019 Lok Sabha election,” reads the appeal on the wedding invitation card cover. It is not just Modi that Subhash Rao admires but also Atal Bihari Vajpayee. “Subhash is someone who goes out of his way to show affection to anyone he loves and admires,” Narsing Rao, a relative of Subhash who is a resident of Madhuranagar, Shamshabad. Since he liked T Prakash Goud of the TRS, he campaigned for him in the Rajendra Nagar assembly seat and the candidate won in the December 2018 elections.
More than 1,000 wedding cards have been printed and are being distributed by the family.
