One seeks action against BSY, the other against Kumaraswamy

The Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party have filed police complaints in connection with Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy releasing an audio clip in which BJP State president B.S. Yeddyurappa allegedly tries to lure the son of a JD(S) MLA to the party.

Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress Committee office-bearer Ashish Gowda has filed a complaint with the Sadashivnagar police in Bengaluru alleging that Mr. Yeddyurappa’s purported conversation in the clip had proved that horse-trading was going on in Karnataka.

‘Doctored clip’

Meanwhile, M.B. Maramkal, media coordinator of Mr. Yedyurappa, filed a complaint against Mr. Kumaraswamy accusing him of releasing a doctored clip.

In his complaint to the Vidhana Soudha police, Mr. Maramkal alleged that Mr. Kumaraswamy had doctored the clip containing the conversation.

Mr. Kumaraswamy released the clip to the media to tarnish the image of the BJP with an intention of continuing in power, he said.

He requested the police to take legal action against the Chief Minister and the people responsible for the fabricated clip.

The Vidhana Soudha police have received the complaint and asked Mr. Maramkal to provide the clip in question for further investigation.

The complainant had not provided any documents which could substantiate his claim. a senior police officer said , adding that the police have sought legal opinion before deciding on the future course of action.
