LUCKNOW: Thirty minutes after the special flight carrying Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi touched down at Lucknow airport at 12.25pm on Monday, she was seen wobbling on a makeshift 'rath', trying to find her balance. The modified truck was immediately replaced with a no-frills vehicle.
As she adjusted her dupatta and took swift steps to climb onto the rath, petals were showered on her by frenzied supporters, which she gracefully acknowledged.
However, around 1:50pm, the Congress eastern UP incharge announced to her colleagues - UP state chief Raj Babbar, UP west general secretary Jyotiraditya Scindia, RP N Singh and Jitin Prasada - that she would have to cut short her first day in Lucknow and make a dash to Jaipur.
Priyanka was informed that her mother-in-law Maureen has been summoned by the ED in Jaipur to join the probe in the Bikaner land scam case along with her husband Robert Vadra. "She will have to stand steadfast by mom in Rajasthan. Will be back in a jiffy on Tuesday to hold a meeting with constituency workers, starting with Dhauraraha," said a Congress leader.
