THANE: Three persons, including a teenager, died in two accidents in Mumbra and Shil Phata on Monday.

In the first incident, a 17-year-old biker from Dombivli rammed into a truck that had slowed down at Shil Phata. The boy was flung off the bike, came under the rear wheels of the truck and died on the spot. "The boy was riding without a licence. The boy fell between a rear tyre and was crushed. He was taken to hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival," said an official from Daighar police station. Police have registered a case against the minor.


In the second incident, a truck carrying 35 tonnes of iron coils lost control and got stuck in a drain along a hill on the Mumbra bypass road. Police said the impact of the mishap caused the coils to crash into the driver's cabin, crushing the driver and cleaner to death on the spot. "We are still to get details of the case, including the names of the deceased," said a police officer. tnn
