Kelly Clarkson couldn’t make it to the Grammys — but for good reason!
On Sunday night, the American Idol alum went on Twitter to reveal why she had to skip the 61st annual award show.
“I’m out touring so couldn’t make #Grammys2019 tonight BUT couldn’t b more appreciative 4 the nomination & couldn’t be more excited 4 everyone there! 2 all the artists nominated & not nominated, win or lose, feel blessed that u get to do what u do 4 a living!” wrote Clarkson, 36.
The pop star was nominated for best pop vocal album for her soulful seventh album, Meaning of Life. She was nominated alongside Camila Cabello, Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, Pink and Taylor Swift.
Grande — who also skipped the awards, after a disagreement with producers — won the award for her quirky, acclaimed LP Sweetener.

Clarkson, who has won three Grammy Awards in the past, is in between dates on her The Meaning of Life Tour, her first since 2015. She kicked off the dates with an acoustic performance of “A Moment Like This,” her first hit after being crowned as Idol‘s first winner.
Off-stage she has been filming The Voice an eponymous talk showand preparing for .
On Saturday, she performed in Southaven, Mississippi. Next stop: Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Thursday.
The 61st Annual Grammy Awards are broadcasting live from Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 10, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS.
