Bootlegger thrashes cops in public

AHMEDABAD: In an incident causing severe loss of face to city police, a constable Chandrakant Khodidas and his colleagues were thrashed by bootlegger Kamlesh alias Tiklo Thakor and three others near Anil Starch Mill in Shaherkotda area of the city in broad daylight. This is not first incident of cops being beaten up in public by either bootleggers or other anti-social elements.
According to the FIR lodged under sections of 332 and 506 of IPC, the constable and his colleagues had gone near Anil Starch Mill for verification of listed bootleggers. "Kamlesh who was sitting there with his friends suddenly got angry and started beating the cops and threatening them of dire consequences if they even entered the area. He fled after the incident," said a senior police official. He added that teams have been formed to nab Kamlesh and other accused.
