Did hooch come via dry Bihar?
Rohan Dua | TNN | Feb 11, 2019, 01:43 ISTLUCKNOW: Methyl alcohol used in paint solutions could have been used to manufacture the spurious liquor, the UP government has suspected. A manhunt has also been launched for a Bihar man suspected of manufacturing and distributing the spurious liquor in Kushinagar.
Eight people died after consuming spurious liquor in Kushinagar. Police have also questioned how the suspect, Harender Yadav, could have routed the spurious liquor through a dry state like Bihar.
"When you manufacture or brew liquor with local ingredients using methyl alcohol, this is what happens," UP excise minister Jai Pratap Singh said. "It is normally taken by tankers between different states and offloaded at places. And this is what happened in Kushinagar. The person who was manufacturing and selling within that area on the border of Bihar and UP has been identified. We've invoked the Gangster Act and the Excise Act which invoke death penalty," he said.
