A growing number of people are calling for Virginia's lieutenant governor to step down.  A  second woman  came forward Friday and accused Lt.

Gov.

Justin Fairfax of sexually assaulting her.

Fairfax has denied both accusations, saying his encounter with the first woman was consensual and calling the second woman's claim "demonstrably false." The  Virginia House Democrats  said Fairfax needs to step down and address these concerns as a "private citizen." Sen.  Tim Kaine , who represents Virginia, said, "The allegations against him detail atrocious crimes, and he can no longer effectively serve the Commonwealth." Those calling for his resignation also include a number of Democratic presidential candidates, including Sens.

Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, Elizabeth Warren and  Kirsten Gillibrand .

All their statements make similar points about the women's accusations being credible and corroborated.  Fairfax is just one of Virginia's top lawmakers embroiled in a scandal.  Gov.

Ralph Northam  and Virginia Attorney General  Mark Herring  both face calls to step down that stem from wearing blackface when they were younger.

If all three men give up their posts, the next person in Virginia's line of succession is the speaker of the House of Delegates.

That job is currently held by a Republican.

Northam, Fairfax and Herring are all Democrats.
