Bhopal: buses of the Bhopal city link limited drivers continue to flout rules

Mumbai: Poddar school bus driver caught using bamboo stick as gear stick, arrested as vehicle rams into BMW

BHOPAL: The drivers of low floor buses of the Bhopal city link limited (BCLL), are still driving the buses with their earplugs on, even when two accidents occurred within a span of twenty four hours on Wednesday and Thursday. Drivers can be seen driving the buses with their ear phones on. Not just this they are also seen looking elsewhere. On Wednesday a man was fatally injured in Kolar and a woman died on Thuesday after being hit by a low-floor bus. All these incidents occurred in the areas where the BRTS corridor is not built. Over 200 such buses ply on the busy roads.

The 24-kilometer-long BRTS corridor too has failed to check the accidents because of the greed for extra passengers in the buses. The low-floor buses not only try to overtake other public vehicles but also stop at undesignated spots. The BCLL has said that it will impose fine on the erring drivers. However, the drivers are still seen running the buses with their ear plugs on or looking elsewhere. Experts feel the corridor is saving the traffic jam else these low-floor buses would cause chaos around while the incidents of collision will also rise.

BCLL director Kewal Mishra issued a final warning to the drivers to drive carefully else they will be fined. Our staff will keep a watch on the drivers and the buses and if they are found on wrong track or any involved in any other irregularity, they will be fined, he said. The GPS monitoring of the buses are also not working in most of the cases, which is the responsibility of company.
