PATNA: Altogether 1,600 people will take the membership of JD(U) in the presence of the party’s national vice-president Prashant Kishor over the next three days – Monday to Wednesday.
JD(U) office secretary Sanjay Sinha on Sunday said 10 camps would be organised at the party’s state office here for the purpose. People interested in joining the party will be offered membership by Kishor.
In five such camps, members or ex-members of the panchayati raj institutions and urban local bodies, including two block pramukhs from Muzaffarpur district and a PACS chairman from Araria district, will join the JD(U), a JD(U) leader close to Kishor told TOI.
In four such camps, students and youth will join the party. A woman student leader with her 200 supporters will also join the party. In another camp, around 200 young businessmen and entrepreneurs from across the state will join the JD(U) in the presence of Kishor, a party leader said.
Kishor recently launched ‘Youth in Politics’ campaign with an aim to bring around one lakh youth into electoral politics. “The campaign intends to strengthen the JD(U) and enhance its worker base in the state. As part of the campaign, thousands of people hailing from different occupations approached Kishor to join the JD(U). Of them, 1,600 will be joining over the next three days,” a JD(U) functionary said on Sunday.
