HYDERABAD: The 17-year-old girl, who was stabbed by her stalker in Barkatpura on Wednesday was taken off from the mechanical ventilator support on Saturday morning. According to the doctors, the victim is maintaining well but is being closely monitored in the intensive care unit (ICU) . This was after a team of five doctors from Yashoda Hospital Malakpet conducted multiple surgeries for seven hours from Thursday from 4 pm to 11.30 pm.
“The next 48 hours are crucial for the patient for maintenance of vital and other organ functions. As all the injuries were caused by using a rusty weapon, the chances of infection are high for the next couple of days,” said a doctor from the hospital. The victim, who suffered nearly 15 deep cuts apart from skull fracture, is said to be responding to doctors commands a few hours after the surgery.
