Indore: With an aim to increase awareness regarding traffic rules among residents, traffic police conducted programmes at different schools on Saturday. Transport associations were also involved in the drive. DSP (traffic) Umakant Choudhary said, “As per directives of DIG Harinarayanachari Mishra and SP (headquarters) Mohammad Yusuf Qureshi, a traffic education programme was organised at private and government schools in the city. During the programme, students were shown short films related to traffic awareness.” DSP Choudhary said quiz was also organised at schools and winners were felicitated. A live demonstration was also given by traffic cop Ranjeet Singh to students. He showed traffic signs and explained the meaning. A team of traffic cops with help of private groups felicitated drivers who were wearing seat belts with certificates at Vijay Nagar Square. Besides, helmets were distributed for free by the police. Police with help from Transport Union Indore installed reflectors on commercial vehicles at Dewas Naka area. LED vans and traffic vehicles with speakers parked near different road squares guided commuters about traffic safety.
