Even though his duet with Lady Gaga from A Star Is Born scored four Grammy noms, Bradley Cooper won't be attending the ceremony

Bradley Cooper scored his first-ever Grammy nominations this year, but the star has a good reason why he won’t be in attendance during Sunday night’s ceremony.

Instead of being in Los Angeles, where the Grammy Awards will be held this year, Cooper, 44, is across the pond, attending the British Academy Film Awards in London.

The actor (wearing Céline by Hedi Slimane) walked the red carpet with his longtime girlfriend Irina Shayk. Though the two did not pose together, they did coordinate ensembles – wearing similar black tuxedos, with Shayk (in Burberry) swapping the traditional button-up with nothing but a golden pendant.

At this year’s ceremony, held at the famed Royal Albert Hall, Cooper’s A Star Is Born was up for seven awards, including leading actor, director, adapted screenplay and best film. Cooper took the stage to collect one trophy, for Original Music.

Lady Gaga will represent the film stateside, as “Shallow,” her duet with Cooper from the film, received four Grammy nominations, including the coveted record and song of the year.

The hit single has already won best song at the 2019 Critics Choice Awards and best original song at the 2019 Golden Globes.

Although Cooper won’t be attending music’s biggest night, he and Gaga will take the stage during the 2019 Oscars, performing “Shallow” — and the star is already feeling the pressure.

“It’s terrifying, absolutely,” Cooper told Extra of singing live at the Oscars. “I was like, ‘Why? I must have some sort of death wish.’”

But it won’t be the first time the pair sings the hit song live. Cooper joined Gaga onstage for a surprise performance while attending her new Las Vegas residency show last month.

“It was wonderful,” Cooper said of the performance, which quickly went viral after videos were released of the duet.

The performance occurred during the middle of Gaga’s Enigma residency show on Jan. 26.

Addressing the crowd, the pop icon remarked, “So a really good friend of mine…I don’t know if you know him but his name is Bradley. He made that movie A Star Is Born.

“So I’m gonna be a little chance-y,” she continued during fan-made video. “Yo Bradley, you wanna come up and do this one?”

Cooper agreed and made his way to the stage, where they shared a hug and she led him to the piano.

“I even got you in-ears,” Gaga said of the earbuds singers use to hear themselves in concert venues.

“Jackson never used these,” Cooper joked in reply, referencing his rebel character in the film.

CBS is broadcasting the 61st Annual Grammy Awards live from Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
