PM to inaugurate a string of projects

A day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Tirupur on Sunday, analysts expect a momentum in alliance formation in the run-up to the Lok Sabha poll.

Among the projects Mr. Modi will inaugurate via video conference are the Chennai Metro Rail line and the expansion of the Chennai and Tiruchi airports.

Tamilisai says BJP will have poll pact

The Bharatiya Janata Party will not go it alone. It will contest the Lok Sabha election in Tamil Nadu in a formidable alliance with parties that are in no way connected with the Dravinda Munnetra Kazhagam or the Congress, BJP State president Tamilisai Soundarrajan said here on Sunday.

She was talking to mediapersons at the Coimbatore airport on her way to Tirupur to oversee the arrangements for the function in which the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate on Sunday.

She said that during his visits, the Prime Minister was either laying the foundation stone or inaugurating a project and this had resulted in people eagerly looking forward to his visits, she said.

The BJP began its electioneering in Tamil Nadu six months ago. The morale of the rank and file of the BJP was high with the visit of the national BJP leaders, she said.
