Announce school exam results on April 14: Dalit forums
TNN | Feb 9, 2019, 07:14 ISTHubballi: Various Dalit organizations have said that the results of class 1 to 9 should be announced on April 14 instead of April 10 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar.
Taking out a rally here on Friday, Dalit leaders under Hubballi-Dharwad Vividha Dalit Sangha-Samsthegala Mahamandala, submitted a memorandum to the chief minister through the Hubballi tahsildar office.
They said the whole world celebrates Ambedkar’s birth anniversary as world knowledge day. “The Union government has declared April 14 as a national holiday while the state government observes the anniversary at all government offices, school and colleges. However, the celebration takes place in the absence of students as schools announce results on April 10 itself,” they added.
“If government has real respect towards Ambedkar, it should facilitate all children to take part in his birth anniversary celebrations. It should revise the academic calendar and announce summer vacation from April 14 after the celebrations,” they urged.
Gurunath Ullikashi, Pitambarappa Bilar, Premanath Chikkatumbal, Maruti Doddamani, Basappa Madar, Ravindra Kalyani, Suresh Khanapur and others were present.
