UT to recruit 198 trained graduate teachers for government schools

CHANDIGARH: After recruiting junior basic (JB) teachers, education department UT Chandigarh is now in the process of recruiting 198 trained graduate (TG) teachers. The move is expected to improve the student-pupil ratio in UT government schools. The development was confirmed by education secretary B L Sharma.
"We are holding meetings in this regard. However, this would be done only after we are through with recruiting of the JB teachers," he said
According to sources, these seats have been approved by the governor. A meeting of executive committee of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, under which the recruitment is to be done, is awaited.
The education department had in October 2018 advertised 418 posts of JB teachers on contractual basis under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. The recruitment exam for the same was held on January 27.
The education department is also recruiting master mistresses and lecturers of different subjects on deputation from Punjab to fill six vacant seats in State Council for Education, Research and Training (SCERT). Already, 41 teachers have been shortlisted and have been called for interview. The candidates for the posts of master/mistresses have been asked to come on February 12, while lecturers have been called for an interview on February 13.
There are around six posts of school teachers in SCERT that are to be filled. These have been lying vacant since long, officials shared. The vacant posts include three TG teachers of science (medical), science (non-medical), English, and three post graduate teachers of physics, maths lecturer and biology lecturer.
