Arun Jaitley back from US, says 'delighted'
TNN | Feb 10, 2019, 04:30 ISTNEW DELHI: Union minister Arun Jaitley returned home on Saturday from the United States, nearly a month after he flew out for treatment of a medical condition.
Jaitely was unable to present the interim budget and railway minister Piyush Goyal was handed charge of the finance ministry while the veteran BJP leader was named a minister without portfolio.
"Delighted to be back home," Jaitley said on Twitter. Interim finance minister Goyal, who presented the budget on February 1, welcomed Jaitley. "Delighted to welcome back respected Shri @arunjaitley ji. Very grateful to him for his support, guidance and leadership," Goyal said on Twitter.
Jaitley has been active on social media, writing blogs and tweeting on several issues and even addressing a post budget news conference from New York. In May last year, the minister underwent a kidney transplant at the AIIMS and stayed away from office for a couple of months. Goyal was given charge of the ministry then. Jaitley returned to the finance ministry in August and hit the ground running before he had to go to US for treatment.
