Says govt not sharing files related to second Marad murder cases

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has approached the Kerala High Court with a writ petition seeking to issue directions to the State government to part with all the files related to the second Marad murder cases.

The agency said its investigation in the case had been stonewalled for want of the files. The Justice Thomas P. Joseph Commission, which inquired into the incidents, had recommended an investigation into the larger conspiracy behind the mass murder that took place on Marad beach on May 2, 2003.

The CBI took over the investigation from the Crime Branch after an order from the Kerala High Court in 2016 and re-registered a crime.

The CBI submitted before the High Court that the depositions and the documents relied upon by the commission were necessary for taking forward the investigation.
