Opposition parties taunt CM Khattar after toll operator blocks Dwarka Expressway road again

Gurgaon: Opposition parties lashed out at chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, on whose orders the wall that blocked the link between NH-8 and Dwarka Expressway was razed, after the expressway concessionaire again erected steel barricades at the site and blocked the road on Friday.
The CM does not have control over bureaucrats who seem to have misled him in this case, opposition leaders said. “This reflects badly on CM Khattar. This wall was pulled down on his orders. It just shows that he lacks administrative skills. The bureaucrats have failed to present him a clear picture,” said senior Congress leader Captain Ajay Yadav.

Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) leader Dushyant Chautala, who is also an MP from Hisar, attacked the CM for shooting from the hip. “This is not the first time that he has said something without taking a while to think over how to react. Apart from failing to end the row over the wall, he had also announced construction of a multi-storey parking in Hisar without even bothering to check if it can be built or not. The other classic example is that of the inauguration of Hisar airport. Not even a single aircraft has taken off from or landed here as DGCA has not given the permission so far. Many of his plans fail to take off, and all these show that he is a poor administrator,” he said.

While bureaucrats in the city didn’t want to say anything on record, sources in the government admitted that the CM’s order to pull down the wall was “erroneous and can adversely impact shifting of Kherki Daula toll plaza”, a longstanding demand of the residents.

“The CM’s intervention has complicated the matter. This will have a serious impact on the toll plaza shifting. All this while we were able to put pressure on the concessionaire urging it to shift the toll plaza from Kherki Daula to Panchgaon but this seems to have gotten diluted. Bureaucrats in Gurgaon should have apprised the CM of the prevailing situation and handled it in a better way,” said a senior government official.

TOI tried to contact the office of the CM, but he could not be reached for comments.
