Official inspects smart city projects
TNN | Feb 10, 2019, 00:05 ISTCoimbatore: Municipal administration and water supply principal secretary Harmander Singh inspected the works implemented under the smart city mission here on Saturday.
The official first inspected the solar power plant installed at the Ukkadam sewage treatment plant at a cost of 5.5crore. The plant, set up on five acres, has 3,168 panels, each with a capacity of 320w. It can generate 4,500 to 4,600 units per day.
“During the inspection, Singh directed corporation officials to display a detailed description of the project at the site so that it would be useful for the public, especially students, who visit the place. Once the project is inaugurated, public will be interested to know more about it as it is a huge project,” an official said.
The secretary also inspected the works being carried out on the northern bund of Periyakulam along the Perur Bypass at a cost of Rs 39.74crore. “At present, works are going on to install various components for 85m out of the total 1.8km stretch. We have ornamental objects like benches and lamps in stock and once ground work is completed, they will be installed on the bund. We plan to expand the work to the remaining areas once it is completed,” the official told TOI.
“The space along the bund is divided into four sections. While saplings will be planted along the road, its lower section will have a bicycle track, footpath, users’ space and bioswalea landscaping feature to harvest and hold rainwater,” he added.
