Iran has unveiled for the first time a new ballistic missile and an underground missile factory.
Iran’s state-run TV showed members of the elite Revolutionary Guards inspecting the missile, “Dezful.” It’s said to be an upgrade of an older model, with a range of 1,000 kilometers.
The United States and the European Union say Iran’s missile development could destabilize the region.
But Iran’s government says the ballistic missiles are purely for national defense. The unveiling comes ahead of Monday’s 40th anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
