ISL 2018-19, Chennaiyin FC vs Bengaluru FC highlights: Bottom-placed Chennaiyin FC stunned Bengaluru as they secured a 2-1 victory at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Saturday. Goals from Jeje Lalpekhlua and Gregory Nelson helped the hosts take a two goal advantage in the first half.

Bengaluru showed signs of comeback in the final half as they started the proceedings with an attacking mindset. Skipper Sunil Chhetri scored the lone goal for the visitors in the 57th minute with a spectacular diving header. However, strong defending by the hosts at the end saw them end the contest with all the three points. This was Chennaiyin’s second victory of the season.

Bottom-placed Chennaiyin FC stun Bengaluru FC as they secure their second victory of the season.

Bengaluru FC are looking for an equaliser as the match enters into its final phase. After a set of passes inside the box, Xisco Hernandez takes an attempt at the goalpost, but his shot goes straight to Karanjit Singh, who comfortably collects it.

GAME ON! Bengaluru FC hit back as Sunil Chhetri halves the deficit. A brilliant cross by Xisco Hernandez from the right and the skipper makes a great run and completes the task with a diving header.

The referee books Luis Lopez as he pulls Raphael Augusto from behind, who was trying to build a counter-attack.

Second half

The referee blows the whistle and the action resumes at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. 

HALF TIME

Jeje and Gregory help Chennai go 2-0 up at the end of first half. Can the hosts hold onto their lead or will we witness a comeback in the final 45 minutes?

2-0 Chennai, CK Vineeth taps the ball towards Laldinliana Renthlei on the right, who delivers a cross in the box. Gregory Nelson leaps over the defender and heads the ball into the bottom-corner of the goalpost.

The hosts have taken the lead as Jeje Lalpekhlua scores for the first time in the tournament. Nishu Kumar makes a costly defensive error as he fails to intercept CK Vineeth's pass and Chennaiyin FC make the most out of it.

Decent attempt by Anirudh Thapa

A decent effort by Anirudh Thapa but Gurpreet denies him from scoring the opener. Thapa recieves a ball in the middle and takes a few steps before blasting a shot at the goalpost. The goalkeeper should consider himself lucky as the ball went straight to him.

Zohmingliana Ralte stretchered off from the ground

Early substitution by Chennaiyin FC as Zohmingliana Ralte is stretchered off from the ground. He will be replaced by Anirudh Thapa. 

Slow start

We are 10 minutes into the match and both the teams are trying to press hard for the ball.  So far we have two attempts from Bengaluru but the shots failed to trouble Karanjit Singh  at the goalpost.
