Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly Pramod Sawant has said the government has been spending crores of rupees for development of education sector in the state which is a positive step.
Sawant was speaking after laying foundation stone for proposed reconstruction of a Government Primary School at Vithalapur,
Sankhali.
MLA and former chief minister Pratapsing Rane, MLA and chairman of GSIDC Deepak Pauskar, MLA and chairman of Goa Horticulture Development Corporation Praveen Zantye, adhyaksha, North Goa Zilla Panchayat, Ankita Navelkar were present among
others.
Stressing on quality education, Sawant said the government is doing all that is possible and the rest lies in the hands of teachers, parents and students to take maximum benefit of the facilities provided. He said after 2012, the government renovated over 90 per cent primary schools in the state and this has happened only because of the foresight of the visionary chief minister.
He said that earlier parents used to look at government educational institutions as second option but now by providing state-of-the-art facilities, the government has achieved success in changing this mindset of the people.
Addressing the gathering, Pauskar said that the present government has given priority to education and is
making efforts to make every institution in the state a model to
emulate.
Pratapsingh Rane also spoke on the occasion. The proposed cost of the project is estimated at Rs 5.08 crore.
