Ferrari 812 Proves Its Name Is Spot-On, Is Superfast In Timed Nurburgring Lap

Ferrari’s flagship supercar, the 812 Superfast, was unleashed at the Nurburgring while the timer recorded the run.

A pro-racing driver was charged with making sure the 812 went as fast as possible on the unforgiving track. Naturally, this led to a very exciting video, shot from the cockpit, which gives you an almost POV perspective.

As for the time, the 812 Superfast posted a 7:27.48 lap. That’s hardly a record-breaker, so the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ has nothing to fear. Nonetheless, this wasn’t an official run of the Italian supercar, and we all know that automakers make sure that everything is in optimal condition before going for fast laps, from the correct tires to the outside temperature and wind speed.

The 812 Superfast is one very quick exotic. It sprints from rest to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 2.9 seconds and maxes out at 340 km/h (211 mph). The 1,525 kg (3,362 lbs) supercar uses a front-mounted 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 that pushes out 800 PS (789 hp / 588 kW) and 718 Nm (530 lb-ft) of torque.

By comparison, the Aventador SVJ, which is the official ‘Ring King, is 0.1 seconds faster to 100 km/h (62 mph), and has a 10 km/h (6 mph) higher top speed. Lambo’s model is also powered by a 6.5-liter V12 that sits in the middle and produces 770 PS (759 hp / 566 kW) and 720 Nm (531 lb-ft) of torque.
