BHAGALPUR: Coming down on the criterion fixed for 10% quota for the economically weak upper castes, leader of opposition in state assembly and former deputy chief minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav alleged that the reservation had been given not to the poor, but to the affluent upper caste people.
Addressing a gathering as part of his ‘Berojgari Hatao, Aarakshan Badhao’ campaign, Tejashwi asked how a person earning Rs 66,666 per month could be called poor. He also mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for promising 20 million jobs to the youth every year, but failing to create any.
The leader of opposition demanded a fresh caste census and reservation for OBCs, MBCs and SC/STs on the basis of population of the respective caste.
