CHANDIGARH: Hisar MP Dushyant Chautala on Friday termed income support of Rs 6,000 per annum for small farmers with land holding up to two hectares as announced by Union finance minister Piyush Goyal during Union Interim Budget as an “election jumla and lollipop.”

Speaking in Lok Sabha during the discussion on the Budget, the MP said Rs 6000 is not sufficient for farmers who were facing hard times in the country these days and it was announced just to buy the farmers’ votes.

Chautala said the Union government must order a special girdwari for assessment of crop loss due to hailstorm that lashed parts of North India, including Haryana.

He said the government has failed to increase the budget on education which is a basic need for the development of the country. He said there are several government schools which don’t have a computer till date.

The Hisar MP also targeted the BJP government over claims of using satellites to help farmers.

He said though Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about Target Olympic Podium Scheme for training of athletes, the Haryana government cancelled the proposal of constructing a stadium in the village of Dronacharya awardee Mahavir Phogat and Phogat sisters.

He said unemployment in the country has surpassed all records and Modi government did not talk about it.

Chautala, however, thanked the NDA government for approving AIIMS in Rewari.
