MUMBAI: In a sudden twist, Nationalist Congress party Chief Sharad Pawar has revealed that he will consider going back to Lok Sabha by contesting upcoming election in the constituency of Madha in Solapur district. Pawar had earlier announced that he would be only a Rajya Sabha member and not contest elections. 

This possibility indicated by Sharad Pawar has given rise to speculations about whether he would lead the opposition alliance in Lok Sabha after the election. Pawar will be the senior most leader among the opposition alliance partners. In case the Congress gets close to 100 seats and alliance partners get about 180 seats the Congress could support the alliance partners from outside to form the government and in such a case Pawar would be the most experienced leader among all the regional party leaders.  The political scenario in the state and across the country is not clear. No political party or leader is sure about his constituency. Considering the fact Pawar may ask all the big leaders from NCP to contest Lok Sabha elections. Chagan Bhujbal, Dilip Valase-Patil, Sunil Tatkare, Rajesg Tope, Rajendra Shingane, Shrinivas Patil, Prabhakar Deshmukh may be the candidates for Lok Sabha.  

NCP Chief Sharad Pawar,  announced few years back that he will not contest any elections any more but there is a possibility now that he might contest. Pawar represented Madha from 2009 to 2014, then he didn't contested the election. In 2009 Pawar defeated BJP leader and co-operative minister Subhash Deshmukh.

On Friday Pawar said that some of his party colleagues are insisting that he should  contest Lok Sabha election from Madha (Solapur). Pawar had a meeting of Party workers, in Pune to take overview of constituencies ahead of the LokSabha elections.  During the meeting, some senior party leaders and the sitting MP from Madha insisted that I contest election (from Madha). The constituency is currently represented in the Lok Sabha by NCP's Vijaysinh Mohite Patil.
