Minister rushes accident victim to hospital in his escort vehicle

TRICHY: Health minister C Vijaya Baskar rescued an accident victim and rushed him to the hospital in his escort vehicle while he was returning from a function near Viralimalai in Pudukottai district on Thursday.
The victim, Pitchaikannu, 55, is a DMK functionary from Viralimalai. The incident happened on Thursday evening when health minister C Vijaya Baskar was returning to Nagamangalam after inaugurating a regional transport office at Illupur. Accompanied by transport minister M R Vijayabhaskar for another event, they witnessed a road accident on the Madurai- Trichy highway near Viralimalai.
Finding Pitchakannu with injuries, Vijaya Baskar rushed him to a nearby hospital in his escort vehicle. After first aid at the hospital, he was shifted to the Trichy Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH) for further treatment.
Speaking to TOI, dean, MGMGH, Trichy Dr S Saradha said that the victim has suffered collarbone fracture. Stating that necessary medical aid has been given, she said the victim has to be in rest for at least four weeks.
