The penultimate day of the Assembly session witnessed the ruling TDP and the BJP members taking potshots at each other, albeit on a lighter note, on Thursday.
Though several ruling party members just went on giving their best in boasting the success of the TDP government’s welfare schemes and N. Chandrababu Naidu, BJP Floor leader P. Vishnu Kumar Raju made it noteworthy by reminding that it was the penultimate day, and thanked the TDP, Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan and the BJP while taking part in the short discussion over welfare schemes.
“Though we are not together now, I am here because of the support of the TDP and Mr. Pawan Kalyan, and the BJP that gave me the chance. I am thankful to everyone,” Mr. Raju said.
He appreciated all the welfare schemes initiated by the State, but stressed that there was huge support from the Centre too in it.
Who divorced whom?
“A lot of welfare has been done in the State, and a lot of political changes, including the BJP breaking up with the TDP, occurred,” said Mr. Raju, drawing the attention of Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, who retorted saying that it was the TDP that gave divorce to the BJP.
Reacting in a lighter way, Mr. Raju said, “Yes, you have divorced us and joined hands with the YSRCP, which boycotted the Assembly, making us (the BJP) the only Opposition.”
He also emphasised that it was a coalition government.
Mr. Ramakrishnudu said it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was supporting the YSRCP, and it was ridiculous to say that the ruling party and the main Opposition were together.
