CHENNAI: Chief election officer (CEO) of Tamil Nadu Satyabrata Sahoo on Friday directed the state government to transfer officials, who were involved in general or by-election work and continued to work in the same assembly constituency for the past three years.
Citing a letter from the Election Commission of India, Sahoo stated that he had been directed to take immediate steps to implement the ECI’s instruction to transfer the officers who are posted in the same assembly/district where they were posted during the last general or by-election held between June 2015 and May 2017. The calculating period should be taken from June 1, 2015.
He sought a compliance report along with the details of transfers of officials, including police, on or before February 15. It would be sent to the ECI, added the statement.
