Sama woman dies of swine flu

Vadodara: A 67-year-old resident of Sama area of the city succumbed to swine flu on Friday morning taking the total death toll due to H1N1 virus to 12 in Vadodara city and district since January.
The female patient, who used to reside at near Jambua bridge passed away at 5.40 am at a trust-run hospital in Atladra area of the city, where she was undergoing treatment.

At the same time, samples of as many as 14 patients tested positive of H1N1 virus on Friday. Of the 14 patients tested positive, ten reside within the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) limits, two in rural areas of Vadodara district while one each hail from neighbouring Narmada and Panchmahals districts.


The fresh cases of swine flu positive patients have surfaced from Sama, Karelibaug, Diwalipura, Yamuna Mill, Manjalpur, Gotri and Subhanpura areas of the city. In Vadodara rural, the fresh cases have been reported from Padra and Dasrath.


With the 12 new cases that were reported on Friday, the total number of swine flu positive patients from within VMC limits has reached 111 from the beginning of this year. Of this. 43 patients have been cured, 59 are currently undergoing treatment while nine have died.


In Vadodara rural, the total number of swine flu positive patients from January 1 has reached 20 of which eight have been cured, nine are currently under treatment while three have died.
