Tamil Nadu BJP president Tamilisai Soundararajan has claimed that the people of Tamil Nadu have accepted NEET and the results were there to show. In a statement on Thursday, she said students from Tamil Nadu had outshone others in the Post Graduate NEET.
“This year, out of 1,43,148 students who wrote NEET across India, 79,633 had qualified. Of this, 17,067 students from Tamil Nadu took the exam and 11,121 have qualified,” she said. This was higher than all other States in the country, Ms. Tamilisai said. She said NEET enabled even poor students to access medical education. “While Anitha’s death is regrettable, data shows more students from her district have benefited from NEET,” she said.
Ms. Tamilisai said NEET was brought in by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government as per the directions of the Supreme Court. “The results show that people of Tamil Nadu have accepted NEET and the common man is benefiting from it. DMK president Stalin should not use NEET as an electoral topic in the interest of the public,” she said.
