Surat broker poisoned to death in Bharuch

Surat: A 50-year-old broker of diamond machines in the city was beaten up and poisoned to death at Valiya in Bharuch district on Thursday when he went there to collect his pending brokerage commission totalling around Rs15 lakh from a businessman.
Deceased Kanu Jeram Radadiya’s son Chintan Radadiya, a resident of Sarthana, registered a complaint against Upin Dodiya at Valiya police station. One accused was arrested and produced in a local court which remanded him in custody for three days while a manhunt has been launched by police for another four.

Radadiya and Dodiya had an argument at the latter’s house at Valiya. Radadiya was beaten up by Dodiya and four other men and made to drink poison. When Dodiya and his associates brought him out of the house, Radadiya managed to escape from their clutches but collapsed on road. He was rushed to a health centre and from there to a hospital in Ankleshwar and subsequently to Ayushi ICU & Multispeciality Hospital in city where he died.

MN Ninama, police inspector of Valiya police station, said, “Based on what the victim told police before he fell unconscious and his son’s statement, we registered the complaint and arrested main accused Upin Dodiya. He has been remanded in police custody for three days by a court. We are looking for four persons who helped the main accused in committing the crime.”

Police said Radadiya was beaten up with sticks and an iron pestle. The victim was forced to drink poison to make his murder look like a case of suicide. Radadiya was claiming commission of Rs15 lakh from Dodiya for helping him sell a big plot of land at Netrang in Bharuch 15 years ago.
