Things the president can do to give us confidence

08 February 2019, 14:08

Dear Minister Mboweni

The President (government) has a number of challenges and all South Africans are complaining about various issues.

It will be sensible for the President to via a scheduled monthly TV briefing, list the top 20 priorities he is addressing and give feedback on the top 3-5 issues and progress made.

This will not only make South Africans positive, but will also give investors peace of mind. We understand that all problems can't be fixed in a day or even a year.

Let him share his priorities and progress regular, but also acknowledge that he has over a thousand issues to address, but that it is prioritized to enable growth and stability.

It will give hope to all of us, business and investors and will promote transparency. We are aware of the commitment of the President and government, but want something tangible to measure progress.

We and investors needs proof and reminders on a more regular basis.

Most of us don''t have the desire or means to re-locate. We love our country, but what what we need to see is very clear progress and a plan to motivate our children to stay in this land of ours.

I spoke to a teacher today who is highly frustrated by the education system and department. Compliance and the rights of teachers needs an urgent review to make sure that our kids are focused, motivated, but also disciplined when needed, in the best practical way. We used to be scared and respectful towards teachers, elders. At he moment teachers needs to be scared of children and their believing parents.

Leaving kids up to their own standards and also allowing to promote to the next grade without passing is one hundred steps in the wrong direction.

You can ask the President how he was disciplined and if he thinks he was deprived as a result of good manners and good discipline.

We are allowing social pressures and so-called rights to create a young society which we wont have to tools to manage in a couple of years. We are creating our own downfall. We can create millions of jobs, but will we have the right minded, mannered, educated, motivated, disciplined people to fill those jobs. Will they be able and equipped  to contribute successfully to the upliftment of their employers and of our country as a whole?

Dream big, but start small. Start with the top 10 priorities on the short term and start with our children for the long term.

If kids are not subjected to some form of discipline, they will become our biggest enemies!

Regards
