Fifi, Fev & Byron's listeners were in for a surprise on Thursday when co-host Brendan Fevola underwent a vasectomy during the show.

Footage later shared to Instagram showed the former AFL star, 38, 'getting the snip' while his colleague Byron Cooke narrated the procedure.

'God, I'm bloody shaking. Byron has never seen me so vulnerable,' a pale-faced Brendan said as he laid back on the operating table.

As Brendan inhaled a large dose of the painkiller Penthrox, the doctor could be overheard saying: 'We've just pierced a hole in his scrotum.'

At that moment, Byron and his friend mouthed the words: 'Holy s**t!'

Shifting the focus back onto the procedure, Byron then started to narrate how Brendan would be feeling on the operating table.

Oh, dear! As Brendan inhaled a large dose of the painkiller Penthrox, the doctor could be overheard saying: 'We've just pierced a hole in his scrotum'

'OK, there's some burning at the moment,' he said. 'There was smoke coming off that scrotum.'

How is a vasectomy performed?

During this operation, a scalpel will be used to make two small incisions, one on either side of the scrotum. This provides access to the vas deferens, so they can be brought to the surface for surgical removal. They will then be cut out, and at least one side will be sealed by suturing, cauterization, or clamping.

Checking in on his co-host, Byron asked: 'Feeling alright there, Fev?'

Later, things took an unexpected turn when Brendan lost one of his front teeth during the procedure.

By this stage, the former sportsman was obviously feeling the effects of the painkiller, telling his doctor not to sell his sperm on the black market.

'This could have gone on the black market and make probably $500million... Make sure he doesn't bottle any of it,' he said in a haze.

Following the operation, a weary-looking Brendan walked back into the waiting room of the doctor's surgery.

He was then presented with a T-shirt featuring the words, 'I Survived Dr Snip', alongside a cartoon image of a sperm.

Brendan shares three daughters with his long-term partner Alex Fevola: Leni, 12, Lulu, eight, and newborn baby Tobi.

He is also a stepfather to Alex's teenage daughter from a previous relationship, Mia.
