KOLKATA: With
Rajeev Kumar, commissioner of
Kolkata Police reaching Shillong to appear before the
CBI on Saturday following the Supreme Court order, the Kolkata Police, according to sources , raided the office of Anjelina Marchantile Pvt Ltd located at Dalhousie area in central Kolkata. CBI’s acting director Nageswar Rao’s wife allegedly had some financial association with the company.
Sources in Kolkata Police said, a team of around 15 members is conducting a search operation at the office of the said company at Clive Row, Kolkata. The raid is linked to a case of misappropriation of fund by the wife and daughter of
Nageswar Rao, added the source.
Senior officials of CBI however called the raid as “propaganda “ by Kolkata police and said that Rao issued a press statement in October, 2018 refuting all charges and denying any kind of association with the company.
This is one of several
raids that took place at several premises of the said company, added sources over past couple of months.
Meanwhile, a 14 member team has reached Shillong to examine Rajeev Kumar in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam . It might take more than a day since there are several discrepancies in the case and in the functioning of SIT formed by Bengal government to probe into the scam, which needs to be clarified, said a senior CBI official.
